二次革命即称讨袁之役、癸丑之役、赣宁之役。1913年3月20日，国会开会前夕，国民党代理理事长宋教仁被杀。4月，袁世凯又非法签定善后大借款，准备发动内战，消灭南方革命力量。孙中山看清袁世凯的反动面目，从日本回国，力主武装讨袁。
